The Unveiling
Level-Designer, Storyteller, Game-Designer
The Unveiling was the first project we worked on together as an entire semester group.
The goal was to create a fun puzzle game set in early-20th-century Victorian England, revolving around the brilliant scientist Evelyn and her ingenious inventor husband Victor (no pun intended).
During development, I was the lead level designer and was also part of the storytelling department. In addition, I came up with many of the game’s mechanics.
Development
Game-Design
The main idea was that Victor and Evelyn would each have different abilities that both needed to be used to solve the puzzles. Combined with a time-based mechanic, this made the game an incredibly fun experience.
Storytelling
The setting of the late Victorian era — a time in which women were generally not allowed to pursue any academic ambitions — was our narrative starting point.
Level-Design
As the Level-Design lead it was my responsibility to create a memorable, detailed and fun world for Victor and Evelyn to inhabit. All the rooms in the level introduced a new mechanic for the player to master.
